Third grade in the library is a year of big change! We take everything we've learned about books over the past three years and use that knowledge to become independent library users. We are searching for our favorite books on Alexandria, checking out books from the regular fiction section, and working on research projects.
Our third grade library curriculum covers the following library, literature and research skills:
- Distinguish and locate fiction and non-fiction books
- Begin to identify and distinguish genres
- Search the OPAC using title, author, and keyword
- Brainstorm key words and utilize internet search skills
- Identify, distinguish among and utilize reference materials
- Access and navigate websites
- Begin to paraphrase, take notes and avoid plagiarism
- Apply knowledge of title page to cite sources
- Create digital finished products to display research
