Fourth Graders have a busy year in library! We spend time working on research skills, investigating nonfiction texts and biographies, and growing as readers. We learn how to identify the things we love about books, how to talk to each other about books, and how to choose books that we love.
Our fourth grade library curriculum covers the following library, literature and research skills:
- Access catalog with minimal support
- Locate book independently or with minimal assistance
- Differentiate between genres and select according to interest and reading level
- Identify and utilize digital resources and websites for research
- Differentiate among reference materials and determine appropriate use of each
- Evaluate sources and information, paraphrase to take notes, and avoid plagiarism
- Take notes using various organizers
- Cite sources in simple MLA format
- Create digital finished products to display research
